The area offers so much for those looking for outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviemore is a year round destination located in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorm National Park. It is 30 miles south of Inverness and 84 miles north of Perth. The town can be accessed by car, train, coach, and plane. By car, Aviemore is just off the A9 trunk road, and by train, it is on the Highland main line with direct connections to major cities in Scotland and the UK. The town is also served by national coach companies and is a main stop for Citylink, Megabus, and National Express, and Inverness Airport is 45 minutes away by car. Aviemore also offers various active travel options such as walking and cycling paths. The distance and approximate travel time to Aviemore from various locations include: Inverness &#8211; 30 miles, 40 minutes; Perth &#8211; 83 miles, 1hr 30mins; Aberdeen &#8211; 93 miles, 3hr 5mins (change in Inverness); Glasgow &#8211; 141 miles, 2hr 45mins; Stirling &#8211; 115 miles, 2hrs; Edinburgh &#8211; 127 miles, 3hrs; Newcastle &#8211; 4 hr 20 mins; York &#8211; 5hr 20 mins; London &#8211; 7 hr 30 mins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviemore is well connected to Scotland and the rest of the UK by road, mainline rail services and is served by Inverness airport. These great links make our lodges the ideal destination and base to explore the Cairngorms, The Highlands, Moray\u2019s Malt Whisky Country and Royal Deeside. Being just off the A9, Aviemore makes a great stop on route to the North Coast 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Aviemore by train<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviemore is on the Highland main line and offers direct connections across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scotland<\/a> including to Inverness, Perth, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Inverness is 40 minutes by train and offers connections to the Far North line for Wick and Thurso, West to Kyle of Lochalsh and East to Nairn, Elgin and Aberdeen. The station is also served by direct UK connections via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lner.co.uk\/our-destinations\/destination-aviemore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LNER<\/a> and The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sleeper.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caledonian Sleeper.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Aviemore by train from London<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a direct rail connection to London with daily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lner.co.uk\/our-destinations\/destination-aviemore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LNER<\/a> service in both directions. This service provides a direct link to Newcastle, York, Darlington and London Kings Cross. This makes much of the UK rail network very easily accessible for travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviemore is also served by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sleeper.scot\/\">Caledonian Sleeper<\/a> which runs 6 days a week and offers overnight train travel between The Highlands and London. This is quite an experience and the comfortable cabins in new trains offer a fantastic way to travel, with the choice of reclining seats,&nbsp; bunk beds and double rooms it offers different options depending on budget and how you travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We love the charm and romance of the sleeper and it should be something everyone tries at least once &#8211; just imagine going to sleep in central London and waking up to views of the Cairngorms. The dining car and bar provides quality Scottish food and drink to get your Scottish holiday off to a great start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Aviemore by car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviemore is just off the main A9 trunk road connecting the highlands to the rest of Scotland, by the A9 inverness is 30miles with a journey time of 30minutes. The A95 connects to Grantown on Spey and towards Keith in Aberdeenshire. <a href=\"https:\/\/trafficscotland.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Traffic Scotland<\/a> offers up to date information on current conditions, disruptions or roadworks along with live traffic cameras. There is a petrol station at the south end of the town that is open 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aviemore electric car charging points<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For EV drivers there are 3 electric car charging stations at the following locations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grampian Road Car Park<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MacDonald Aviemore Resort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wilderness Scotland, Dalfaber industrial estate.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>There are more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zap-map.com\/locations\/aviemore-charging-points\/\">charging points<\/a> for electric vehicles throughout the Cairngorm National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Aviemore by coach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We are well served by national coach companies and is a main stop for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citylink.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Citylink<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.megabus.com\/\">Megabus<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalexpress.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Express<\/a> which connect to Scotland and the rest of the UK.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to Aviemore from Inverness Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Inverness airport is about a 45 minute drive. For travel within the UK the airport offers direct connections to London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham along with the Scottish islands. The airport also has an international link to Amsterdam via KLM. For the current status of these routes &#8211; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invernessairport.co.uk\/fly-direct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inverness airport<\/a> website is the best place for up to date information. If using public transport the airport is served by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stagecoachbus.com\/promos-and-offers\/north-scotland\/getting-to-inverness-airport-by-bus\">a bus<\/a> to Inverness bus station where you can then connect with coach or rail services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aviemore bus services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stagecoachbus.com\/\">Stagecoach Highland<\/a> runs buses for local travel to neighbouring villages and also runs the Inverness bus. Cairngorm mountain and Loch Morlich is served by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stagecoachbus.com\/routes\/north-scotland\/31\/cairngorm-car-park-aviemore-dalfaber\/xiao031.i\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">31 bus<\/a>. The main bus stop is outside the train station but there are stops along the main road through the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aviemore taxi services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is easy to get a taxi when arriving at Aviemore railway station with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxisinaviemore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">24 hour service<\/a>. Taxis can be booked in advance by calling 01479 811111. They also offer airport transfers which should be booked in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting around Aviemore by active travel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are fantastic active travel options to get about once you are here. The orbital path around Aviemore is a safe way to walk round the village and connects with more long distance paths like the Speyside Way to Boat of Garten, Nethy Bridge and Grantown or The Old Logging way out to Glenmore and Loch Morlich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustrans.org.uk\/find-a-route-on-the-national-cycle-network\/national-cycle-network-routes-in-cairngorms-national-park-and-perth-kinross-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Route 7 cycle route<\/a> in Aviemore passes through the village and connects to Kingussie and Newtonmore to the South and Boat of Garten and Inverness to The North. The Old Logging way to Glenmore and Speyside Way as far as Nethy Bridge offer car free cycles from centre of Aviemore.
