Description
Introducing our charming log cabin near Aviemore, Balbeag Cottage. Balbeag Cottage has been welcoming guests for many years now, some time and time again. Situated in the Cairngorms, the pet friendly log cabin has spectacular views of rolling countryside with hills and mountains as a spectacular backdrop. Balbeag Cottage sits in its own private land, surrounded by birch forest brimming with local wildlife.
A short drive from Aviemore and the ski slopes, the log cabin is a 1.5 mile walk away from the village of Kincraig. Kincraig is home to it’s very own outdoor watersports on Loch Insh where you can also try a variety of activities or something a little gentler like a play in the woodland playpark or dinner and drinks in the Boathouse. Close by is the Old Post office gallery cafe where you can meet the artist in residence as well as sample some fine fare. Don't miss a trip to The Highland Wildlife Park where you can drive around in a safari type tour aswell as visit local and world species in their enclosures.
Balbeag Cottage is also very close to the Uath Lochans and if you have not heard of them you will be in for a lovely surprise when you find the bear paw print shaped lochs. Also just down the road are The famous Ruthven Barracks, built to squash the Jacobite Rebellion. Keen cyclists will love its proximity to Route 7 and the Speyside Way and wildlife lovers will have plenty of visitors to watch from the comfort of the cabin.
The living space comfortably hosts 8 guests in an open plan kitchen and dining area. Made more comfortable with the additional wood burning stove and TV with sky and Wifi. Views from the living area are just so serene.
Bedroom one is a double room, bedroom two can be a double or a twin, bedroom three has twin beds and bedroom four has a single bed and a bunk bed. A shower room and a bathroom complete the living space. The utility room is a useful space for washing and drying clothes whilst you stay at Balbeag Cottage.
The log cabin is dog friendly and the garden is enclosed for pets. There are kennels that can be used if you need to leave your dogs behind for the day.
Balbeag Cottage is the right choice for you if you are trying to escape the hustle and bustle of normal life and are looking for a restorative and relaxing self catering holiday.

We selected Balbeag for a family trip to the highlands due to the space and the rural secluded location. Wildlife included deer wondering by and lots of birds visiting the feeders. Well equipped and warm once the storage heaters fired up the log burner was amazing in the evening kids and grandad loved it. Close to (walking distance) loch Insh outdoor centre which had a lovely restaurant and bar.. Close to some lovely walks including the Speyside way which passes the property. All in all a lovely place to visit
