The Maltings - Highland lodge with hot tub and summer house
Nethy Bridge - Cottage
Accommodation
Description
Originally built as an oat mill in 1749, The Maltings has been lovingly renovated to create a tranquil and secluded luxury lodge while preserving its original character. With heritage features, cozy interiors, and stunning natural surroundings, it’s the perfect escape from everyday life.
Step inside and discover a beautifully designed interior with sumptuous furnishings, a wood-burning stove, and original mill features. The living space is ideal for relaxing after exploring the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.
One of the highlights is the bar area, where the original oat grinder has been transformed into a unique bar table. It's the perfect place to enjoy a dram of Speyside whisky in an authentic setting. The dining area provides a welcoming space for entertaining, creating a warm and atmospheric experience for gatherings with family and friends.
Set within two acres of private garden, The Maltings offers plenty of space to explore, relax, and enjoy the fresh Highland air. Highlights include a dedicated outdoor dining area for al fresco meals, a recently renovated log cabin summerhouse perfect for quiet moments or imaginative play for children, and a luxury hot tub allowing guests to soak in the stunning surroundings while enjoying Scotland’s ever-changing landscapes.
The Maltings comfortably accommodates up to eight guests across four beautifully designed bedrooms: a king-size bedroom with en-suite, a king-size bedroom, a double bedroom, and a twin bedroom. The lodge also features two additional bathrooms, a cloakroom WC, and a utility room with washing and drying facilities. A games area, board games, and stair gates ensure comfort and entertainment for guests of all ages.
We happily welcome two well-behaved dogs (more upon request). The enclosed garden provides a safe space for pets to roam freely, and ample parking is available for up to four cars.
Your stay at The Maltings includes heating, electricity, logs, bed linen, towels, robes, and slippers, a welcome gift, and local activity guides.
The Maltings is ideally situated for those looking to explore the Scottish Highlands and the stunning landscapes of Cairngorms National Park. Nearby attractions include Abernethy Forest & Loch Garten, a haven for wildlife lovers, Cairngorm Mountain Resort, perfect for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking, Loch Morlich, Loch an Eilean & Loch Insh, great for open-water sports and scenic walks, historic castles & Highland Folk Museum, ideal for history enthusiasts, Landmark Adventure Park & Highland Wildlife Park, fun for families, and biking, hiking, river sports & climbing, offering plenty of adventure activities.
At Igloo, we are committed to sustainable tourism. We proudly partner with Trees for Life, planting a tree in the Caledonian Forest for every booking. We also support local initiatives, including the Nethy Bridge Ice Rink and other community causes.
Experience one of the best luxury lodges in the Cairngorms. Whether you’re looking for a short break, a week-long holiday, or an extended stay, The Maltings is the perfect destination for a memorable Highland escape.

We are so glad we found this cottage! It is in beautiful surroundings and is ideal for a friends/family getaway! It has everything you need from the comfortable beds to the log fire to the hot tub to the games room. It’s a great size and well laid out. The large enclosed garden is perfect for the dog too! We walked into Nethybridge, which took about 50mins. Nick from Igloo gave great help and information and nothing was any bother.!

We got a bit lost on way and the snow didn’t help with seeing signs. But maybe photos of bin store entrance and right turn road once over bridge.

We used everything, the games, log burner, hot tub and the “garden” was huge and much appreciated by us and our two dogs. We loved this place and would recommend it! |

Because we don’t have a 4 x 4 the snow became a problem for us. We drove up the hill to try to get out of the valley and became stuck. We reversed back and got turned and down the hill but that was only because there was a local person who told us to go down the track to the main road. They waited at the bottom to make sure we got out. Extremely nice people.
It might help to direct (or at least recommend) people to use the downhill road for in and out. |

We really love staying at the Maltings, it's a really peaceful remote location but not too far from Nethy Bridge or Grantown. The house itself has lots of interesting features and is immaculate. The garden is huge and a great place to spot wildlife. see more

Parts of the decking need repairing - it has started to rot at the top of the steps. My wife nearly tripped until we put something over it. Other than that everything was perfect.

Details of where the bins are located was very unclear and we spent the first fews days of our stay trying to locate them. Eventually we had to contact igloo to give us specific details.

We had a great stay the cottage is gorgeous, so cosy and a lovely space to relax. Loved the hot tub and enclosed garden. Our only (minor) issue was discovering that using the oven tripped the electrics, making dinners hard to sort. Nick was responsive when we messaged about this, although this issue was not resolved whilst we were there hopefully fixed for future guests. Stove top was fine. Other than that, we love the cottage and had a wonderful time - would definitely stay again!

A very enjoyable stay, each room was very nicely decorated and we loved spending time upstairs by the fire! Underfloor heating was a godsend in the colder months! Great big enclosed garden for the dogs to run around in also!

Nethy Bridge is such a beautiful town!!! the arrival was at night so it took us some extra time to understand how to get there, regarding that the original way is now closed. we also had a problem with the washing machine, nick was very available to help although the problem was finally not solved. In spite of this, the vacation was a dream and the place is recommendable 100%!
