Description
The Polchar, a former gamekeepers lodge nestled in the idyllic road to Loch an Eilein, the beating heart of the Cairngorms.
Staying at the Polchar is a magical experience all in itself with so many stand out features that will make you want to stay there forever.
The benefits of this idyllic country retreat include peaceful serenity with lots of mature gardens to enjoy. However, just a short walk away is the very popular Loch an Eilein, an ancient and wild place which features some historical landmarks such as the castle, a former home of the Wolf of Badenoch. A great walk for all abilities, well behaved dogs, bikes and those keen to explore further lochs and glens.
The Polchar sits beside Inverdruie in the Rothiemurchus Estate which is host to lost of outdoor activities including pony trekking, quad bikes, zip lines and some more traditional activities such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, farm rides and much more. Not forgetting a forest with networks of paths in the biggest ancient Caledonian Pine Forest.
The Polchar has landscaped gardens which feature a hot tub aswell as an outdoor kitchen with a smoker, weber styleBBQ and gas BBQ's. You can enjoy this fantastic holiday home in any weather. The Japanese garden is truly unique for the Cairngorm National Park and there is also a pond and a putting green for something extra to do. Wander around this serene and inviting mature gardens that have lovely places to pause and enjoy them. There are some great places to hide from the stresses of everyday life here.
Take a nature walk with enchanting steps to the river that runs nearby the property. As this area has very little light pollution, it is the perfect spot to enjoy dark skies and some star gazing. Think of the quality time you can spend with your family in a truly magical location. Children will spend hours exploring the playhouse and purpose built climbing frames by the orchard.
Once inside the big heavy doors to the Polchar, you are transported to a world of country style interiors with a quirky and luxurious feel. A large living room with deep sofa's to immerse in, with picture windows of views into the garden and of course a roaring fire. Impressive artworks and curated across the room, making it a fantastic spot to retire in.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything a family could need for a short break or a longer stay hosting for family and friends. An AGA is the perfect place to gather round but The Polchar also has electric ovens to compliment. An informal dining area sits alongside it and a formal dining room is a dramatic backdrop for more evenings long into the night, hopefully sampling some local Inshriach Gin or any or the Speyside Malts.
With five bedrooms to choose from, guests are truly spoilt for choice. With three large kingsize rooms that are ensuite and a further kingsize room, single room and a family bathroom. All styled in a fusion of Scottish and epileptic interiors, and a nod to Japandi throughout. There is a bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor for those who prefer not to take the stairs.
If you are planning that dream trip to the Scottish Highlands then this self catering lodge will not disappoint. With so many things to enjoy on the very doorstep you must book enough time to fully enjoy one of Scotland most fantastic locations. Neighbouring many of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland, the Cairngorm mountain range and the rich in history and natural beauty of Rothiemurchus. The surrounding area has so much to offer.
