We are very lucky to live and work here in the Highlands and from day one we have been keen to play our part as a local business in our community. The Self Catering industry contributes significantly to our local economy and as a business we regularly donate to local causes and support other local businesses. Here is a little about some of the things we have supported locally:

  • Aviemore Ice Rink

Aviemore now has an ice rink again due to the amazing work done by Aviemore and Glenmore Community trust. The dedicated team have worked hard to get it up and running and the fact it has returned this year is a credit to this hardwork. The ice rink is a real asset to both the local community and visitors alike. Igloo is very proud to have supported it in its first year in 2021 and again for this season.
  • Aviemore half marathon

The Aviemore half marathon is run by The Speyside Trust, a charity which aims to allow persons of all abilities to enjoy the outdoors. The half marathon weekend helps them raise funds for this valuable work they do here in the community. We were delighted to be able to sponsor some mile marker signs.
  • Visit Cairngorms Ukraine appeal

Igloo represents a diverse range of properties that are all individually owned. Through our membership of Visit Cairngorms one of our owners kindly donated a stay at their property to a competition that raised funds for the DEC response to war in Ukraine. As an agency we waived our associated fees with this booking as our contribution towards the prize. Due to generosity of other businesses a fantastic weekend was on offer in The Cairngorms. In total £6,570 was raised.
  • Sustainability

Living and working in such a stunning part of the world, we know we have to do what we can to protect it for future generations. Working with Trees For Life – we plant a tree for every booking made. They are a local charity doing amazing work in rewilding Dundreggan, in Glen Afric right here in the Highlands. To date our donations have planted over 1200 trees with total donations of over £7500. We also supply sustainable cleaning products from Ecover and Method in many of our properties.
  • Local business

Our holiday guides on our site and guest information packs share links to the many wonderful local businesses that help visitors make great memories in the Cairngorms.
  • Supporting local artists

We have also commissioned local artist June Armstrong on a number of projects including our Christmas cards, welcome cards, colouring in sheet and lovely blue shopping bags with a unique piece of art showing all the fun families can have in The Cairngorms. Many of our owners feature local artwork in theor properties and June is one of the many fantastic artists here in The Cairngorms. You can find out more about these other talented artists in our blog.
  • How we do business

We are very aware of our responsibilities as a business, an employer and as members of the local community. We ensure our directly employed staff are paid well over the Real Living Wage and we have received accreditation by Living Wage Scotland that shows our commitment to this. The self catering industry brings a huge amount of jobs and opportunities to our area and we work with many local companies, suppliers and trades on a daily basis.
  • Working with owners

All our properties are individually owned and we are very proud to represent and work with a diverse range of of owners and look after their stunning properties. We invest significantly in our marketing offering and offer assistance with management and compliance. If you have a property and would like to work with us we would be delighted to tell you more.
